IF you’ve got a nose for
good coffee, you might be
interested to hear that
Lava Carts owner Simon
O’Brien is selling franchises.

Mr O’Brien said he’s had
regular inquiries about franchises
since he set up the
coffee cart outside Mackay
Base Hospital 18 months ago.

Now, he’s ready to sell his
first franchise, and he’s negotiating
a lease for it to be located at Northern Beaches
Central shopping centre.

“We’ve had inquiries from
as far away as Kearney, Nebraska,”
Mr O’Brien said.

“The possibilities are endless
– there are so many locations
waiting to be uncovered.”

Lava Cart had established a
reputation for some of the
best coffee in Mackay, he said.

“We’re getting the type of
reviews that matter when it
comes to coffee,” he said.
“We’ve fashioned a system
that delivers very high quality
coffee every time, focusing on
the systems involved and fine
tuning them to a very high
standard.“At the end of the day it
should be about what goes in
the cup.”

Mr O’Brien said he saw
huge potential for Lava Carts
in hospitals.“It (Lava Cart) is positioned
in a very strategic location
right at the front entrance (of
Mackay Base Hospital), where
there is a high volume of
customers.

“It’s a godsend for patients and staff.
“We get everyone pulling in
for a coffee, from taxi drivers
to ambos and police.”
